Brian Martinez, PT, DPT

Brian Martinez serves as our physical therapist at the Nexus Poway location. He graduated from the University of St. Augustine with a Doctorate in Physical Therapy and holds a Bachelor of Science in Physiology from UCLA. Brian uses his background as a former track and field athlete and personal trainer to treat a variety of orthopedic conditions through patient education, functional movement training, and hands-on techniques. He enjoys serving patients of all ages and activity levels in North County San Diego with the goal of making the rehab process both empowering and fulfilling. Outside of the clinic Brian enjoys spending time at the beach, lifting weights, playing basketball, and closely following all of his Bay Area sports teams.

Kevin LaCapria PT, DPT

Kevin is the Physical Therapist at the Hillcrest location. He is a Southern California Native who earned a Bachelor's degree from California State University Northridge in Kinesiology with an emphasis on exercise science. During his time at Northridge he led tutoring sessions for exercise physiology based on his passion for all things exercise, diet and nutrition. Kevin went to the east coast where he earned his Doctorate in Physical Therapy at Stony Brook University in New York. He is currently focused on furthering his career and expertise in the orthopedic setting using manual techniques and strength and conditioning principles. In his spare time Kevin can be found in the gym or outside enjoying the sunshine and abundant activities San Diego has to offer.

Jenna Bergmark, PT, DPT

Jenna grew up here in beautiful San Diego, CA. Jenna received her undergraduate degree from San Diego State University in 2015 with a Bachelor degree in Health Science, Public Health and a Minor in Cognitive and Behavioral Neuroscience. Jenna then continued her education to receive her Doctorate in Physical Therapy from the University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences in April 2021. Jenna has also spent the past 10 years as a competitive cheerleading coach and choreographer, leading teams to national titles. Jenna has a special interest in rehabilitation of orthopedic injuries as well sport specific training. In her spare time Jenna enjoys doing gymnastics, hiking, going to the beach, and spending time outdoors enjoying the San Diego sunshine.

Jinal Vora, PT, MPT

Jinal Vora serves as a Physical therapist for our Chula Vista, Nexus Physical therapy clinic. She completed her Bachelors in Physical Therapy from Sancheti College of Physiotherapy, Pune, India affiliated to Mahrashtra University of Health Sciences. After graduating, she worked in an outpatient /acute care setting in Mumbai. Jinal received her Masters of Rehabilitation degree in Physical Therapy with a concentration in neurological disorders and related physical therapy from University of Illinois at Chicago. She has received specialized training in various manual therapy techniques such as joint mobilizations, proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation, myofascial release, trigger point release and other techniques to treat physical ailments. She has a passion for maximizing function, relieving pain, and optimizing physical performance for her clients. Jinal, continues to enhance her hands-on therapy by taking various continuing education classes. In her personal time, Jinal enjoys hiking, biking, traveling and exploring new places.

Annette Aquino, PTA

Annette is a physical therapist assistant at the Chula Vista clinic. She graduated from San Diego State University in 2012 with a bachelors degree in Kinesiology. She then earned her Physical Therapist Assistant degree from San Diego Mesa College in 2015.

Patrick Swank PT, DPT

Patrick is a Doctor of Physical therapy and has been practicing for 4 years. He received his doctorate in physical therapy in 2018 from University of St. Augustine. For the last 2 years Patrick has worked as a travel PT in several states and in various settings. He is passionate about hands-on rehab as well as good education regarding the anatomy of healthy bodies, injury prevention and management, and maintaining good body mechanics during everyday activities. Through his travels Patrick has treated patients of all ages. In his free time he enjoys the outdoors, hiking, going to the beach and all the good food/drinks in San Diego

Brandon Maret PTA

Brandon moved to San Diego from New Jersey in 2009 to complete his bachelors of arts in exercise science from Point Loma Nazarene University. He then acquired his PTA license in 2018 from Concorde College in San Diego with honors. Brandon's speciality includes using manual techniques such as joint mobilizations, myofascial release, trigger point therapy, & ART to treat orthopedic conditions. This is coupled with extensive knowledge in corrective exercises that are tailored to the individual. He believes in empowering patients through proper education so they can return back to optimum functioning & prevent recurring injuries in the future. Brandon continues to further his education through online courses and research to stay up to date on the most effective therapeutic techniques to treat his patients. In his free time he enjoys running, surfing, lifting weights, and fishing. In the coming year, Brandon's fitness goal is to compete in his first ultramarathon.

Jamie Shen, PT, DPT

Jamie Shen is our physical therapist at our Mission Valley location. Jamie was born and raised in Anchorage, Alaska where he received his undergraduate degree from University of Alaska Anchorage with a Bachelor's degree in Health Sciences and a minor in Biology. Jamie then received his Doctorate in Physical Therapy from the University of St. Augustine in 2021. Jamie has experience in treating all types of patient populations including orthopedics, sports performance, vestibular rehabilitation, neurological disorders, geriatrics to name a few. In his spare time he enjoys hiking, playing sports, and going to the gym.

Simon Li PT, DPT

Simon completed his doctorate of physical therapy from Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis. His patient-centered approach to physical therapy is education, education, and more education. He provides his patients with the knowledge and expertise to become independent with symptom management and exercise progression. Simon and his patients are a team and they tackle the problem together. "I am the expert on the body, but you are the expert for your body, so we will do this together." Outside of the clinic, he enjoys long walks on the beach, pumpkin spice lattes, reading rom-coms in his egg chair.

Chad Morris has extensive experience in the health and wellness industry as a licensed Physical Therapist and athletic trainer. Chad earned his Master's in Physical Therapy from Loma Linda University in 1997. Soon after, he established a working relationship with Don Perry & Co. with the vision of establishing a cutting edge practice with unmatched patient care. In 2002, Chad founded Nexus Physical Therapy. Inc., which now serves the greater San Diego.

Ayron Birchfield, PTA

Director

Ayron is a Regional Manager and Physical Therapist Assistant at Nexus Physical Therapy. His passion is to improve functional movement, strength and knowledge of his patients and team. Ayron has a love and background in weight training, jiu jitsu, wrestling, calisthenics and high intensity exercise. He received his PTA degree in the midwest at Professional Skills Institute in Maumee Ohio. He has since taken his knowledge to the west coast to work with some amazing clients ranging from beginners to the most elite. Ayron enjoys having year round accessibility to training and activities here on the sunny west coast.

Carlos A. Bonilla CPT

Marketing & Business Development Manager

Carlos oversees marketing and business development. He collaborates with our employees to provide a positive environment of growth and looks for potential avenues to further establish Nexus' mission to the overall well-being of our patients. He understands the fundamental drivers of the business and aids in the pursuit of long-term business value. Carlos was in the Navy for 6 years in active duty and continues to serve in the Naval Reserves as a Naval Aircrewman. He likes to go hiking, play sports, weightlifting, and stay physically active in his off time. He has received his bachelor's in Kinesiology and will continue his education to become a physical therapist.

Leslie brings experience in organizational management, and great attention to detail. She handles the daily business office matters and human resources department from our corporate office. Leslie works closely with current and prospective providers to ensure our records, reports, and contracts are current and complete. Leslie's performance continues to help Nexus establish itself as the premier Physical Therapy practice in San Diego.
